Overview

Norway is in the EEA but not the EU, so a Norwegian AS works in the single market under Norwegian company and tax rules. What most founders need is a company that can start trading quickly: we deliver a ready-made AS with an Oslo address, bank account support and accounting in place, fully remotely and without any travel to Norway.
A ready-made AS transferred to you, so you start without waiting for a new registration
A registered address in Oslo, meeting the legal requirement for every company
Help choosing a bank or EU fintech account and preparing the application
A VAT-active company on request, with a VAT number to invoice clients from day one
Accounting with our partner accountants, from the first transactions to the annual report
Everything signed remotely, with no travel to Norway and all documents prepared for you
Choose a ready-made company to start at once, a VAT-active company with a VAT number from day one, or a new registration in your own name. Whichever you choose, we check your structure, prepare every document and coordinate the registry, bank and tax steps for you. MAXCORP hands over a working company, not just a registration, and remains your local team for accounting, changes and banking after registration.
Why Norway
Company profits are taxed at a flat 22%, and small companies can opt out of an audit.
As an EEA member outside the EU, Norway gives companies access to the single market.
Register notices, annual accounts and tax returns are all filed online through Altinn.
Shareholders can live anywhere; the residency rule covers only the board and manager.
No. 3
Norway’s GDP per head in 2025 was 59% above the EU average in purchasing power, third in the EU and EFTA.

Requirements
What Norwegian law requires from a private limited company (AS), and what that means for you as a founder.
| Fact | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Legal form | Private limited company (aksjeselskap, AS); shareholders are not personally liable for its debts |
| Share capital | At least NOK 30,000, paid in and confirmed by a bank, auditor or lawyer before filing |
| Shareholders and board | One shareholder and a one-member board are enough; the same person can be both |
| Residency | The general manager (if any) and half the board must live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland |
| Address | The company must have its business office in Norway, entered in the register |
| Signing | A notary-certified power of attorney issued to us; foreign role holders need a D‑number |
| Processing time | Cases needing manual processing are usually done within 2 weeks; paper filings take longer |
| Annual report | Annual accounts are filed with the Register of Company Accounts by 31 July each year |

A ready-made Norwegian AS transferred to you with the essentials in place: a registered address in Oslo, help choosing a bank or EU fintech account and preparing the application, and accounting set up with our partner accountants. You can start working in Norway without waiting for a new registration.
A ready-made AS is already entered in the Register of Business Enterprises, so there is no wait for a new registration in Norway. If you need a specific name, the company can be renamed after the transfer through a registry amendment.
A ready-made company that is already registered for VAT in Norway. You can invoice with VAT from day one without waiting for a VAT registration. Subject to eligibility: VAT registration in Norway depends on taxable activity. Availability is limited, so please ask us for the current options.
The operational company package starts from €4,800; a VAT-active company is quoted on request. A new registration on its own starts from €2,500, with the setup services added separately. Running costs: mail handling and forwarding on request, accounting and tax reporting on request and business consultation with a lawyer €280 per hour. We provide a detailed quote for your project.
Yes. Norwegian law sets no nationality or residency rule for shareholders. The residency rule applies to management only: the general manager, if the company has one, and at least half the board. Opening a bank account depends on each bank’s own onboarding rules.
At least half the board members, and the general manager if the company has one, must live in an EEA country, the UK or Switzerland; the ministry can grant an exemption in individual cases. A one-member board therefore needs a member who lives there.
Board members and managers without a Norwegian identity number need a D-number, applied for by post with an originally certified copy of their ID. We prepare the application for you.
The EEA-resident board members are provided by you; we prepare all their documents and filings.
You sign the power of attorney before a notary public in your country. For use in Norway it usually also needs an apostille if your country has joined the Hague Apostille Convention, or consular legalisation if it has not. We confirm what applies to your country.
Yes, for a new registration, subject to availability: the name must include AS and differ from names already registered. Check it in the Brønnøysund register search, and we confirm it before filing. A ready-made company can be renamed after the transfer.
Yes. An AS must have its business office in Norway, and the address is entered in the Register of Business Enterprises, where official letters are sent. Our packages include a registered address in Oslo.
For a new AS, the share capital must be paid in and confirmed before registration, by a bank or by an auditor, lawyer or accountant. For day-to-day banking, a European provider such as Wise or Revolut is often the quickest start, and a Norwegian bank can be added later. We support you through both, but the bank makes the final decision.
Every AS files annual accounts with the Register of Company Accounts by 31 July and a company tax return; small companies can opt out of an audit. VAT registration is required once sales pass NOK 50,000 in 12 months, and VAT returns are usually filed every two months. Our accounting partners can handle all of it.
Usually 2 to 4 weeks from the point we have received all required documents, including the signed power of attorney. That covers preparing and translating the documents, filing, and processing by the Register of Business Enterprises (usually within 2 weeks).
